The parking area around the building has not been reserved for tour buses today in order to allow voters access to parking. Polling stations for Precinct 1, in Rooms 5 and 6, and Precinct 2, in rooms 2 and 3, will remain open till 8 p.m. tonight. Voter turnout was reportedly steady today with some 400 voting by 1 p.m. in Sitka's two voting precincts. During early voting, a total of 1,735 cast ballots, which will be counted tonight along with ballots cast on election day today. The public is welcome to watch returns after polls close tonight. In addition to early and election day voting, a total of 135 requested absentee ballots which will be counted on June 2, the clerk's office said.
