LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCEDoes anyone have a family member or friend working at or doing com year at Livingstone Hospital in PE?There has been a surge of xenophobia in the Addo area, and the brother of our employee was pulled out of a car along with other Zimbabweans and beaten badly because of their nationality. His employer, who was driving the car, initially tried to protect them, but he was beaten himself until he allowed them to take all the employees out the car. Mavis (our employee) has been sent a horrific photo of her brother lying on a gurney with no mattress. We don’t know if it’s a mortuary gurney or if that’s how they roll at Livingstone hospital 🙆🏼‍♀ but it doesn’t look good. We are trying to find out if he is alive or not but the hospital phone is not being answered. Meanwhile, his wife has had to flee into the bush with their 2-month-old baby. After making an initial desperate plea for help, her phone battery seems to have died. We don't even know where she is or how to start helping. The family is desperate to hear how their brother is. Apparently people are illegally stopping all vehicles in and out of Addo checking for foreigners, so even if we knew where the sister in law was hiding we couldn't send anyone in to fetch her without putting the driver into danger as well.
