Weston’s newest chapter has officially begun — and it’s already a page-turner.
Last weekend, just in time for the bustling Wine Fest crowds, Lydia and Grant Dilworth celebrated the grand opening of Happy Endings Bookshop on Main Street. Part bookstore, part gathering space and all heart, the shop welcomed visitors from near and far who were drawn in by its cozy charm, playful name and the unmistakable magic that defines Weston itself.
“We wanted it to feel like a second living room for Weston,” Lydia said. “Somewhere locals can rediscover a love for reading — and visitors can fall in love with Weston, just like we did.”
The name Happy Endings carries a cheerful double meaning — perfectly suited to a town where romance, history and a touch of mischief live side by side. For avid romance readers, the nod is clear: in the genre, a happily ever after is a requirement, not a hope. But even casual readers found something to enjoy once they stepped inside.
Jan and Barry Horn, visiting from Lee’s Summit, stopped by the shop during a weekend getaway and were immediately charmed.
“We came down because the owners are friends — she’s a niece of a friend of ours,” Jan said.
The shop’s eclectic vibe and thoughtful curation left an impression.
“I really like it. It’s cool. She has lots of different varieties,” Jan said, while Barry was pleasantly surprised to learn he could order books online.
Beyond the shelves, Happy Endings extends its reach through personalized service, including special orders. Barry described the process as seamless.
“Oh, it’s a piece of cake,” he said. “You just tell her, she looks at it, sends it in, gives you your email, and it’ll be here.”
Though they don’t live in Weston, the Horns said they plan to return.
“It’s a cool place. People should come,” Jan said.
Like the Horns, the Dilworths’ path to Weston started years ago, with weekend visits and house-hunting adventures that eventually led them to stake a claim in the town’s downtown scene. Their goal was never to change Weston — it was to contribute to its ongoing story.
“Change is part of life,” Grant said. “But in Weston, it’s about thoughtful change — about adding new chapters without losing the ones that made the town magical to begin with.”
While Weston has always prided itself on its historic charm, it’s quickly becoming a destination for fresh ideas and young entrepreneurs. Happy Endings Bookshop s a growing list of businesses, many of them women-owned, helping shape the town’s future while honoring its past.
For Lydia and Grant, it’s not just about selling books. It’s about building a community — one happy ending at a time.

Books by local authors, including Sierra Simone, are featured on a display table at Happy Endings Bookshop in Weston on May 3, 2025. The Main Street bookstore celebrated its grand opening last weekend.
