    The Barton County Library kicked off their summer reading program at the Mary K. Finley Library in Lamar on Thursday morning, May 29, with children's musician Dino O'Dell. Shown in the picture are kids who followed him as he taught them movements to go with his songs, while teaching them about the seven continents, five oceans and what's special about each part of our world. There were almost 100 in attendance. The program at the library was O’Dell’s second of the morning, after offering a presentation to students in first through fifth grades at Lamar’s summer school. As usual, this project is ed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as istered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

The Lamar Tigers had a terrific season including winning the district championship. Key to the Tigers success was the play of a strong senior class. At a recent home game second baseman Cooper Haun goes back on pop-up while fellow senior Eli Hull sprints in from right field. The Liberal Lady Bulldogs finished fifth in Class 1 in the Track and Field State Championships last weekend in Jefferson City. Fifty-five schools were represented. Here, Liberal High School sophomore Ally Barton heads for the finish line. She finished third in the 400 meter dash and second in the open 800 meters and the 1600 meters and was a member of the 4x800 relay team that finished sixth.
