Historic Kirksville run comes to a close in Pleasant Hill
The Tiger girls didn't play their best soccer on Saturday afternoon in Pleasant Hill, falling in the Class 4 Sectional round 8-0. Kirksville's season ends 18-7 after capturing the school's first District championship and winning the most games in program history.
Jaden O'Haver doubles in the bottom of the third inning with two outs. Tristin Harrison singled to score him to make the game 5-3, and the Gophers would never have another runner cross the plate.
Green City can't catch up, falls in State quarterfinal
Despite scoring the first run of the game and out-hitting Faith Christian Academy (Kansas City), the Gophers never retook the lead as they fell, 8-3, in a Class 1 State quarterfinal in Green City on Wednesday night.
Blane Byers comes around turn three in a meet at Spainhower Field earlier this season. The sophomore advanced to the State meet in the 300-meter hurdles.
Tiger track sends 10 events to State meet
Kirksville's track & field team competed in the Class 4 Sectional 2 meet at Rock Bridge in Columbia on Saturday. Of the 15 qualifying events from the District meet, two-thirds of them will be moving on to the State Track & Field Championships at Jefferson City's Adkins Stadium this weekend. Twenty-one schools were represented by at least one athlete.
